The DVLA are calling 2009 one of the best years for private number plates, as they intend to use their six annual number plate auctions to be held this year to offer some very special number plates.
This time around, the DVLA will be selling off some of the most desirable number plates available, the “O” series; there are so many different combinations that can be made up through using a simple O, which virtually anything is going to be possible.
But the jewel in the DVLA crown is going to be the 1 O number plate, this is supposed to be the most desirable number plate around and will be taking top spot at the DVLA’s first three day auction to be held on the 28th January at the Whittlebury Hall, near Towcester, Northamptonshire.
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: “1 O is arguably one of the last great jewels in our crown. Its single digit 1 combined with a single letter places it into our ‘most desirable’ category of registrations and as such I am confident it will exceed its £10,000 reserve price.”
Other great number plates like 2 O will be auctioned at the second auction which is due to take place at the Ardencote Manor, near Kenilworth, Warwickshire, in March, while other similar number plates like 3 O in will be sold in June, followed by 4 O in August, 5 O in October and 6 O in December.
