The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have been doing some research and they have found that consumers are buying around twice as many personalised number plates at the moment than they ever had done for some time.
It is because of the releasing of the new style number plates, which have enabled buyers to create a completely new range of names and words. At this time of the year, there is a special day, Mothering Sunday and as usual, the new style number plates can offer a different style of present for mum.
By search through a personalised number plate dealer’s site such as http://www.make-your-own.co.uk/makeaplate_new.php a search will bring up some relevant personalised number plates such as MY09 MUM, MY02 MUM and MY08 MUM.
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: “Our research confirms our long-held suspicions that more and more people are buying personalised registrations as gifts. It’s hardly surprising, they fall into the rare gift for life category and, with prices starting from £245, and they’re great value.”
Special days such as Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Valentine’s Day represent around ten per cent of the amount of personalised number plates purchased, proving that the new style number plates have opened up a whole new market in number plate purchases.
