It is not every day that private number plate fans get the opportunity to bid on a royal number plate, but this is an exception as 1 HRH (reserve £3,200) goes up for auction on the 28th January.
There are in fact three special number plates at the DVLA number plate auction to be held at Whittlebury Hall, near Towcester, Northamptonshire. These include 3 S (reserve £8,000) and 1 O (reserve £10,000), number plates like just do not come up that often and will no doubt generate some serious revenue for the DVLA.
In fact, 1 HRH is tipped to become the most expensive number plate ever, beating the current record holder 51 NGH that was sold for £254,000.
Other special number plates that are being offered at the auction are CO57 TAS (reserve £900), DAM 144N (£900), DOR IIIS (£500), EA57 ERN (£1,000), EAR 17H (£350), HAM 155H (£900), JUD 177H (£700), KYL IIIE (£900), MAG 991E (£900), 57 OKE (£1,900), ORV 111L (£400), OUR 7OY (£900) and SPA 11N (£900).
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: “For the personalised registration connoisseur 1 O is arguably one of rarest plates available and, as such, we have set the highest reserve we’ve ever set on one of our auction plates, but one I am confident it will exceed it.”
This week is going to be a very exciting week for the number plate industry, but once again, the real winners will be the government.
