After the dazzling success of last month's
Plate "1" auction, Emirates Auction is pleased to announce its next auction,
scheduled for March 15, 2008 with something for everyone.
Another 100 distinguished number plates will
go on sale, including special number 13 - considered "unlucky" by some - and a
series of distinguished pattern plates such as 595, 737, 3131, 6699 and 90909.
With reserve prices as low as Dh 5,000, everyone can be a part of the
excitement!
Emirates Auction sold the most expensive
license plate in the world - Plate "1" - at its Feb. 16 auction. Abu Dhabi
businessman Saeed Khouri paid Dh 52.2 million, breaking the previous Guinness
Record by more than double!
"The last auction was out of this world," said
Abdulla Matar Al Mannaei, Managing Director of Emirates Auction. "This time, we
wanted to have something for everyone, so that everybody with an interest in
license plates can come and participate."
Emirates Auction is the official auctioneer
for Code 5 distinguished number plate auctions, supported by the General
Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police.
Al Mannaei invited members of the public to
request their favorite license plates through the company's "Auction Alert"
service: "People can visit our website and enter the number plates they are
interested in, and we will do our best to include them in the coming auctions,"
Al Mannaei said. Plate enthusiasts can also receive updates by email and SMS
informing them when their favorite numbers are up for auction.
Emirates Auction holds the records for the top
seven most expensive plates worldwide. The last auction attracted 750
participants and generated a record $24 million (Dh89 million) from the sale of
90 number plates.
To date, a total of $80 million has been
raised from the sale of 483 plates in six auctions, with all the proceeds going
to the support of special needs projects and victims of road accidents.
The upcoming seventh auction will be held on
Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. It is organized
by Emirates Auction on behalf of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police and
sponsored by Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Emirates Palace.
