Government Have No Record Sir....

A furious mechanic is having to resit his driving test - because the can't find his records. Melvyn Booth, of Sutton in Ashfield, Notts, told us he had passed his test in 1974, but has mislaid the document. He said: "When I applied for a replacement, the explained that unless I found the original, I'd have to do the test again." Mr Booth's insurers and former employers confirmed they have seen his licence in the past, but the agency won't budge.
