The DVLA have amended the bidding system for their online auctions of private number plates.
The previous system was a fixed bid system whereby you submitted your bid without knowing any other bids and waited until the whole auction ended to see if your bid was succesful.
The new system is much like Ebay whereby you submit your maximum bid and the website will increase your bid as required to keep you in front. Bids on all registrations are on view so you can revise your maximum if you wish to.
The clever part is, unlike Ebay the auction end time varies from number to number so the use of sniping software or very late bidding is impossible.
