666 Registration number gets purchased by Vicars
Vicars buy 666 number plate
Two vicars in Greater Manchester have bought a number plate with 666 in it.
The Rev Gary Gotham and his wife Carole, also a Reverend bought the plate R666 REV.
They paid £250 for the "Number of the Beast" to amuse their congregation in Stockport.
United Reformed Church cleric Gary said: "I desperately wanted a unique plate. The had a lot of REV plates and I burst out laughing when they told me about 666.
"But they wouldn't let me have it without preaching that it was the devil's number. They only relented when I revealed I was on the right side of the cloth."
Carole added: "The plates are fun and a reminder for people to have fun. We are not being sacrilegious - we work hard for the community and if anything we have raised our church's profile."
